Amberjack along our Gulf Coast

a man holding a fish on a boat

One of the species we are catching now along our Alabama Gulf Coast amberjack. These fish feed on shrimp, squid, fish, and crustaceans and can be found around bridges, wrecks, pile, towers or reefs as they like to hide around the depths of these kinds of structures. For the best fishing, fish just off the bottom and drag with a tight pull. Be prepared for action when you get a bite.

When fishing for amberjack, be sure and live bait as this will give you the most success. Since amberjacks are a predator fish, they feed on shrimp, squid, fish, and crustaceans. Some people have found that a mixture of types and sizes of live fish improve your chances to catch amberjack. You can also use an artificial lure such as are sparkle beetle, curly-tail grub or cocahoe minnow. Make sure to choose yellow, gray or greenish-yellow lures as these will work best. Call us today for your inshore fishing trip! We have several charters just waiting for you!
