Randy Boggs fell in love with Orange Beach fishing during his teenage years. In 1999, Randy traded his deck shoes for a captain’s hat when he purchased the F/V Seafood, a 38’ Infinity vessel, and set up in a local marina. It was there he met Susan, a Texas transplant who was mastering the art of matching eager anglers with the perfect fishing trip as a charter agent. Together, they built more than just a fishing business – they created a floating family of charter fleets and a trusted reputation for big fish and boutique service.

As their business began, Randy and Susan needed a name for their new headboat. A good friend joked that it would be a “real surprise” when it came to Orange Beach – and they were immediately hooked. Reel Surprise was born.

Our inshore and offshore fishing charters in Orange Beach are now a “must-do” adventure on Alabama’s beaches. From quick trips to troll for mackerel to deep sea charters for longer casts and larger fish, we offer something for newbies, pros, and everything in between. With decades of experience right here on the Gulf and a local crew of expert anglers, you won’t find a better guide on the Gulf for your next fishing story.

Today, Reel Surprise Marina is a boutique harbor with 54 boat slips, making us the “just right” size to know every boat, captain, and guest by name. Being closest to the Gulf means less time traveling and more time fishing – because who doesn’t want to be first to the fishing grounds? And our convenient location at SanRoc Cay means easy access to premium shopping outlets, gourmet restaurants, and our fully-stocked dock store with essential supplies for your day on the waves.
